Backfill
Reconstruct monthly back issues from your connected sources' history: allowances by plan, cost and how it runs.
Backfill reconstructs your paper’s history from your connected sources: one monthly back issue per month, so your archive doesn’t start on the day you signed up.
How it works
- Each month is written by the same pipeline, with the same verification gates, using that calendar month as the reporting window. Months are written newest first, one at a time.
- Back issues are archive-only: never emailed or posted, and auto-approved. Each carries the ribbon “Reconstructed edition · Compiled after the fact from archived source data”.
- How far back you can go depends on each source’s history. Stripe, for example, keeps events for only 30 days, so older months rely on your other sources.
- Progress (“N of M issues”) shows on the billing page.

A purchase starts the backfill automatically on your company edition. As a safeguard, a job pauses itself if its real cost runs more than 20% over our estimate. Nothing more is charged, and support resumes it.
